Welcome to Trailblazers!

Instructor: Amy Sachs

The following classes are designed for mature kindergarten-aged and beginning first grade students between the ages of 5 and 6. All Trailblazers enrichment classes are cross-curricular, covering a variety of major subject areas including Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and The Arts along with a strong emphasis on Character Development.  Both of these classes extend over a full year (two semesters); however, registration is handled by semester so you are not obligated to re-register your student in both fall and spring semesters unless you so desire. Charter funds accepted.

Make Friends!

Much of your 5 to 6 year old’s learning takes place through his or her social interactions. While teaching the core subjects of reading, writing, and arithmetic are important, developmentally, students between the ages of 3 and 6 are absorbing much of the information around them through play and social connections with peers. Therefore, educators and parents must not discount the value of social skills development through play.

Build Character!

Each bi-weekly lesson taught in our Trailblazers K/1st class focuses on a specific theme and includes a character education component. Concepts like perseverance, gratitude, cooperation, self-control, integrity, and forgiveness are modeled, taught, and practiced in every class! Often times, a fun game or activity is used to demonstrate a specific trait to give students a more concrete understanding of the skill.

Learn Fun Stuff!

All Trailblazers lessons are based on themes that all kids love! Some favorites are Creepy Crawlers & Things with Wings, Body Talk (body systems & healthy lifestyle), Everyday Heroes, and many more! Lessons are taught using a cross-curricular approach (ie. art projects often include writing, etc.) and are designed to appeal to all types of learning styles including: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners.
